INIHAIN sa Kamara de Representantes ang panukala upang magkaroon ng sick leave benefits ang mga guro sa pampublikong paaralan.
Ayon kay ACT Rep. France Castro walang sick leave ang mga guro sa public schools sa kasalukuyang regulasyon.
Hindi na umano binigyan ng sick leave ang mga public school teachers dahil mayroon nang ibinibigay na ‘teachers leave basis,’ gaya ng service credits at Proportional Vacation Pay.
“However, service credits are compensation for work done by the teacher beyond regular functions or regular work or days, such as Brigada Eskwela, election and census service,” ani Castro. “It’s about time that our laws be amended to provide our public school teachers protection against health complications, especially considering that most of such conditions are the effects of the daily strain of teachers’ tasks in schools and overwork.”
Punto ni Castro hindi maaaring piliin ng guro na magkasakit lamang tuwing bakasyon.
“Service credits and the Proportional Vacation Pay have different nature and purpose compared to sick leave. House Bill 5349 provides public school teachers sick leave benefits of thirty days per year,” saad pa ng lady solon.
