PINAYAGAN ng National Economic Development Authority ang rehabilitasyon at upgrading ng Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Nagkakahalaga ng P102 bilyon ang proyekto na ipinanukala ang consortium ng Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc., AC Infrastructure Holdings Corporation, Alliance Global Group, Inc., Asia’s Emerging Dragon Corporation, Filinvest Development Corporation, JG Summit Holdings, Inc. at Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.
Layunin ng proyekto na pagandahin ang serbisyo sa NAIA at dagdagan ang eruplano na maaaring lumapag at umalis ng paliparan.
“We will soon see much-improved air traffic handling and operations once NAIA is rehabilitated. The improvement of the country’s primary gateway is proof that the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte is seriously thinking of the convenience and safety of every air passenger who is either flying off or arriving in our country,” ani Transportation Sec. Arthur Tugade.
Ang rehabilitation project ay hahatiin sa tatlong bahagi na sisimulan ng 2021 at matatapos sa 2024.
Ang Phase 1 (2021-2022) ay ang pagsasaayos ng airport terminals upang maitaas ang 31 milyong passenger capacity nito kada taon sa 47 milyon.
Ang Phase 2 (2022-2023) ay ang pagtatayo ng bagong passenger building (Terminal 2 Annex) at expansion ng Terminal 3 building, pagtatayo ng mga bagong taxi way at upgrading ng Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) equipment, at ng general utilities gaya ng car park.
Ang Phase 3 (2023-2024) ang pagtatayo ng bagong terminal, pagsasaayos ng airside facilities at upgrading works para matugunan ang pagtaas ng bilang ng mga pasahero na maseserbisyuhan ng mga terminal.
